Philosophy talk:
1) today, I am going to cover a few topics that are generally not spoken of together, & describe an interplay of wheels with wheels, or some of the complex gearing behind a certain portion of human psychology. I will start by saying I am not a psychologist, I
@DrAllyLouks Is the emperor of scent considered pop culture?
Or niche amongst us weirdo acupuncturists who use scent as guide to physiology and emotion?
@QiaochuYuan Every company designs structures and products and communications that “mirror” (grow out of) their own ethics and virtue… most of which they fail to “sense” or at least comprehend their sending of- at all.
@JDaviesPhD Rigorous noticing of my breath. Practice Surrendering my ability to control the universe- I guess a kind of stoic philosophy (protect my children, I was having debilitating panic attacks) awareness and tracking the earliest signs of panic (nausea or sensory disruption)

Congresswoman @AOC just did a nearly hour long live where she shared her grave concerns with replacing President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee.
Here’s the full video minus the very short intro she did on other work she is doing at the moment.
Doing my job has been meditation. Caring for someone else is meditation. Helping my aging grandfather up the stairs is mediation, and staying calm on the face of fights with my family is mediation.
@JDaviesPhD It’s practiceable though. Most of us have lost our capacity for honing sense perception (thus curiosity) having outsourced it to machines and professions over the last 2-3 generations. Nursing a baby isn’t exactly a “skill” either, but it can be re-learned.
@chamath So we should put more kids onto a planet heading directly into clean water and food shortages concurrent with widening inequity, climate migration and war over said dwindling resources? While teenage suicide is already at an all time high? Sounds wise.
@profdvp In undergrad I had to do a calc I’d already had in hs, also 5 months pregnant, having avoided everything 101 until last semester. Thank god the prof heard me answer Q’s, saw I knew wtf was going on and said outright I only needed to show up for exams.
Want to have a better relationship, with anyone?
Learn to listen.
If you feel defensive or want to interrupt, just breathe. Work on regulating your emotions. This is how you build trust.
When someone goes to you and they're met with openness and curiosity, the relationship grows stronger.
When someone goes to you and they're invalidated or dismissed, the relationships grows apart.
Every response you have to another person either builds connection, or breaks it.
Choose wisely.
@johnsonmxe Interesting though the analogy furthers a thing started with industrialization that itself intercedes and redesigns perception thus physiology (interrupts homeostatic loops towards mechanistic frames missing the full influence of mythopoetic cognition on biology.)
@EloiseHendy not on this platform much but got tagged elsewhere that you were looking. I’ve been working in workplace wellness/burnout/trauma/resilience etc for over 20 years and we’ve done internal studies. Have other connections for you too. https://t.co/taR4SvSm78
2024 context:
Facebook’s board - including Peter Thiel - paid billions to try to cover up Cambridge Analytica’s 2016 election interference. FB is still on trial for it.👇
Thiel and David Sacks (another major right wing FB investor) helped convince Elon to take Twitter private.
@Theholisticpsyc Agreed but is this you? You may want to credit them or vice versa if you’re claiming the idea. (I’m glad we all have access to sharing it in any case.)
We (🇺🇸) need to avoid mirror-imaging at this moment by thinking these groups will be deterred by a carrier strike group.
I'm not sure they care & in fact it may motivate them to strike.
We don't know their decisionmaking calculus. And as Phillip indicates, they are fired up.
The foreign ministers of Russia and North Korea are meeting in Pyongyang for talks expected to focus on how to boost their military ties. https://t.co/XLlG0tuyhc
