Two #earthquakes (magnitudes 4.3 and 5.2) occurred near Silver Springs today at 1:15am and 1:18am! You can see the aftershock rate pick up after those events on this #seismogram from station PWRL. PWRL was installed April 15th, the day after the 5.7, to monitor aftershocks.
Had a great time at University of Nevada Day at @washoecounty. We got to talk to county employees about #earthquake and #wildfire monitoring and show Luna a seismometer!
If you're in N. Nevada you probably felt or at least heard about the magnitude 5.7 earthquake on Monday evening. Check out our video summary of the event and aftershocks on our Instagram: https://t.co/XyvjH8sp2y
Thank you to the @tahoefund, our partners, donors, and everyone who voted for the @unevadareno Nevada Seismological Laboratory's ALERTWildfire during Tahoe Fund's "Tahoe Project Madness" event! We are grateful for your support and confidence in this critically important program that has stopped over 100 Tahoe-area fires before reaching one acre. Early detection of wildfires reduces the risk of catastrophic wildfires and protects Lake Tahoe. #GoPack
