Big thank you to Cornwall Clean-up Crew for removing trash from our Forest! Volunteers, incl. from @nynjtc, removed 50+ ft guard rails, old tires, glass bottles, car fenders. Also thanks for food and drink donations from Jones Farm and Il Tesoro Ristorante! ♻️🌳 #EarthDay2024
Yesterday, HHLT staff members along with @NYNJTC worked together to train trail stewards in locating vernal pools, which are small, shallow bodies of water that serve as safe breeding habitats for amphibians.

Huge thanks to @nynjtc crew for their hard work to help us improve and formalize trails at our (not-yet-open) Buttonbush Preserve this week. We are making great progress toward getting this preserve ready to be open to the public soon—stay tuned for updates!
In the meantime, our staff is closely monitoring the weather & is ready to respond & to rectify any storm-damaged areas, restoring safe access to trails that may be impacted.
A State of Emergency has been declared for NYC, Long Island & the Hudson Valley due to significant rainfall & dangerous flooding that is currently impacting the region.
