I am a PhD looking for a place to do my abroad period.
Specifically, I am looking for a Lab in Europe, including UK, where the effect of social media use is studied through psycological/neuroscientific tools.
Any hints?

@AnneliJefferson Why do I say so? Bc treatment allows escaping a brain-centred take. Do we want to treat only the brain, or maybe also the ways a subject attunes to the environment? Should the illness be limited to the brain? Or embedded and extended? This clearly speaks against reductionism!
Amazing discussion. Would change @AnneliJefferson quote to red "Whether we should speak of mental disorders as brain disorders will depend on how successful treatment is"
What are the consequences of each label in how you treat your patients?

@AnneliJefferson No absolutely! You write "Whether we should speak of mental disorder as brain disorder will depend on how successful explanatory reduction is". My suggestion: it might be interesting taking into account treatment instead of reduction. My bad if it wasn't clear!
We explored this question from a phenomenological point of view in relationship with substance addiction.

In other words, how does it change the way a patient is treated if we conceptualize his/her situation as brain vs mental disorders? Does it change at all?
Chance often plays a major role in important scientific discoveries. For @timeshighered, @MatthewReiszTHE spoke with Professor Pievani about his new book, "Serendipity: The Unexpected in Science," and the case for slower, smaller research. https://t.co/Om34KcXrKJ
This is basically a way to check "how well am I doing?". In Active Inference terms could be seen as a way of tracking my Error Dynamics. I can definitely tolerate some errors, some might even be warranted, but I want to know the ones I can avoid! Control your free energy 🕵️
How much time am I dedicating to what during my PhD? 🤔 To start well this year I created my own accountability sheets. I need to know weekly and monthly how much I am working on what!

The #ISWS2024 crowd knows how to party. And tomorrow at 09:15 they’ll of course be fresh and ready again to present their awesome projects #WorkHardPlayHarder

@GalleseVittorio This is why it's important to separate AIF from computation, people don't have to buy both. The more we stress that the more it can work. Instrumentalism could be a nice way out, we all can work to make it more appealing!
A bit in late buut, happy to have shared the first step in my PhD research during the poster session at https://t.co/pEo8LWX7Rh. Hopefully more Active Inference work to come!! @RMBattleday
Really great opening day yesterday at our Convention on the Mathematics of Neuroscience and AI (https://t.co/pJDtURWsZM)!
Thanks for all of the fascinating talks and audience participation. Thanks also to @UKinItaly for hosting!
