Road infrastructure is a powerful driver of rural transformation, opening up communities, connecting people to opportunities and making essential services, markets and livelihoods more accessible.

The rehabilitation and spot improvement of the Kahaini–Kaburugi–Kiranga Road in Kandara Constituency, Murang'a County, is advancing this vision by upgrading the route from a seasonal murram road to an all-weather bitumen standard.

Implemented by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), the project includes bitumen surfacing, spot improvements, earthworks and extensive drainage and culvert works to enhance durability and year-round accessibility.

The upgraded road will ease the movement of people and goods, shorten travel time and provide farmers and traders with a more reliable route to markets.

It will also strengthen connectivity between the B23 and C541 roads, improving access across Ngararia and neighbouring areas while supporting local economic activity.

Through the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, continued collaboration with road agencies, enforcement officers and local communities will help promote road safety, responsible road use and the secure movement of people and goods along the Kahaini–Kaburugi–Kiranga corridor.
