I’m trying, but no one accepted my ride! -
Have you ever felt this way while trying to book an auto or taxi on NAGARA? If yes, we want to share why this is happening and what we’re doing to solve it.

Dear Bengaluru,

Some of you have successfully booked rides on NAGARA and experienced our service. Some of you have tried multiple times but couldn’t find a driver. We understand your frustration, and we want to be transparent about why this is happening.

The problem is a classic chicken-and-egg situation.

We onboard drivers onto the NAGARA platform, but many initially stay active for only a few days. If they don’t receive enough ride requests, they stop opening the app. Meanwhile, we promote NAGARA through communities, word of mouth, and our social media channels. When this creates a buzz and customers start booking, there aren’t always enough drivers online to fulfil those requests.

By the time we spread the message to more drivers that rides are coming in, some customers have already become frustrated and stopped trying.

We realised that to solve this problem, we need to bring both sides together at the same time.

🚀 Our plan to break this cycle

We’re actively reaching out to our driver community and encouraging them to stay online, with a clear message: From October 13 onwards, we want more drivers to be active and ready to serve Bengaluru.

The response has been encouraging! More than 1,000 drivers have already started coming online, and we’re working towards having 2,000+ professional auto and taxi drivers active on NAGARA.

This is an important step towards making rides more accessible and reliable for our customers.

Yes, for auto rides, pickup charges are based on the actual distance, with a maximum limit of up to 1 km. Drivers should not intentionally exceed this limit.

For transparency, the NAGARA app shows the live meter and fare calculation throughout the ride.

Took a meter ride with @nagaraauto to support fair fares for local cab drivers from the Airport.

1) Booked Nagara

2) Took bus to P4

3) The driver helped us with the luggage & got a safe ride home.

I did not pay more.

I did not pay less.

I paid fair fare.

The driver took another or longer route!

This is one of the common concerns many passengers have when using a meter-based auto or taxi.

They may worry that if the driver takes a longer route, the meter fare will also increase.

But here's the important point:
most of the time, the driver is simply following the fastest route suggested by Google Maps.

So at @NagaraAuto , we've made it clear to commuters:

"Route is your choice."

Drivers follow the fastest route suggested by Google by default. If you prefer a different route, simply let the driver know.

And we reinforce this with drivers on every ride through a vocal alert:

"Please follow the route suggested by the customer."

Because a transparent meter fare should also come with a transparent route.

We hope this feature helps both commuters and drivers have a smoother, clearer ride experience.
