Congratulations to the legendary Anant Nag Ji on being conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
For several decades, his effortless performances, remarkable versatility and brilliance have left a very strong mark on Indian cinema, particularly Kannada cinema. In whichever role he has played, he brought rare depth and authenticity.
This is indeed a richly deserved honour for a truly distinguished artist.

🧵M.S. Subbulakshmi was on a trip to the U.S. She was at some friends place who had called a few folks over to meet the great singer. Obviously all of them requested her to sing. Around that time the host heard loud noises from the house next door. He went over to check and

The day after her emergency caesarean, Serena Williams walked out of her hospital room so her mother would not see, found a nurse, and told her between gasps exactly which scan and which drug she needed.
She had survived a pulmonary embolism in 2010, so she knew what a blood clot in the lungs felt like. She had been off her daily blood thinner for the surgery. She could not breathe.
She did not say she felt short of breath. She said she needed a CT scan of her lungs with contrast dye and a heparin drip, by name.
The nurse told her the pain medication was probably making her confused. She insisted. A doctor arrived and performed an ultrasound of her legs instead. It found nothing, which is what an ultrasound of the legs finds when the clot is in your lungs. Her recollection of that moment is asking why she was getting a Doppler when she had told them what she needed.
They sent her for the CT. It found several clots sitting in her lungs, and she was on the heparin drip minutes later. It was not over. The coughing brought on by the clots tore her caesarean wound open, and surgery found a large bleed in her abdomen. Four operations in a week, then six weeks flat on her back at home.
She has said since that being heard was the difference between living and dying, and she is one of the most recognisable people on the planet.
She had the diagnosis before they did. She had to argue for it anyway.

Well, when a child is conceived, the DNA split is 50/50 from both parents. Except for one small detail: mitochondrial DNA. It’s passed down only through the mother and never through sperm.
Which means something interesting: all living humans can trace their mitochondrial line back to one woman, not one man.
And every daughter born continues passing that same line forward.
Happy Women’s Day 💐
Medical horror level: 10/10. 🤯
Imagine dying not because you got cancer, but because your tapeworm did.
A @NEJM case report documented a man whose Hymenolepis nana parasite developed malignant stem cells. These tapeworm cancer cells then metastasized into the human host's lungs and lymph nodes.
It’s the first known case of a parasite "sharing" its cancer with a human. Medicine is officially stranger than fiction
Celebrating your birthday at an orphanage isn't noble. It's tone-deaf.
Those kids aren’t there to clap for your cake-cutting. You want to help? Donate. Support. Volunteer. Just don’t turn their reality into your birthday aesthetic.
When Dr. Ratan Chandra Kar arrived on an Andaman shore in 1998, he wasn’t just entering a forest—he was stepping into 150 years of silence, mistrust, and pain.
The Jarawas had resisted every outsider for generations.
But instead of fear, Dr. Kar met them with food, respect, and quiet persistence.
He didn’t just save lives. He proved that true change begins not with authority, but with humility.
How do you rebuild trust where none existed?
On Doctors' Day, scroll down to see how one man did it—with no weapons, just empathy.

Thank you now, in future and forever to the men & women of our security forces.
And to your families.
No matter how many times we say this, it won’t be enough. 🇮🇳🙏🏽
Thank you North of India, for keeping India safe. It’s because of you all that we in the southern part of the country are sleeping without any worry.
We live in privilege of being far away from the border, but we shall pray for your safety today. A united India is what will defeat the enemy.
