Black Panther Party deputy chairman Fred Hampton was drugged by the FBI then assassinated by local police on this day 56 years ago.
He was only 21 years old.
Listen to his words and see if you can discern why he would be their target.
Rest in Power, Imam Jamil Al-Amin
Today, we honor the life and legacy of Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, who transitioned at the age of 83. You may have first known him as H. Rap Brown the brilliant, fearless Chairman of SNCC and Minister of Justice for the Black Panther Party. But the man was never bound by titles. He was a freedom fighter in every sense of the word.
He spoke truth with such clarity that the government labeled him dangerous. Not because he harmed but because he healed. Because he organized. Because he taught. Because he told Black people they had the right to defend themselves. And for that, they tried to bury him. First with lies. Then with time.
For the past two decades, Imam Al-Amin sat behind bars as a political prisoner convicted under circumstances that countless legal scholars and human rights advocates have highlighted as unjust. But even from a cell, his intellect never dimmed. His principles never broke. And his influence never stopped.
He taught us that resistance is not a moment it’s a lifetime. That revolution is not always televised but it is felt in the marrow of every person brave enough to live free.
He is gone from this plane, but he is not gone from the struggle.
To the man who once said, “Violence is as American as cherry pie” we remember you. We honor you. And we vow to keep fighting, organizing, and building in your name. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Imam Jamil Al-Amin.
Rest in power, Brother. We got it from here.

@Joe__Bassey Sankara’s seed, buried in the ground.
Rotten to rise, new life is found.
Tiani,Goita,Traore, the fruit,
Pure organic,revolution’s root.
No GMO,no poison,no lies,
Natural warriors under African skies.
Every season,their harvest is bright.
Fearless and free, they shine in the fight.
Unlock the mind, let the spirit ascend.
Break the bondage, let the healing begin.
From within we rise, with the thoughts we choose.
Power in our actions, we can’t lose.
We’ve been misled, but the truth’s in sight.
Conscious vibration, we ignite the light.
