The ǁKaras Region, Namibia’s largest and southernmost region, is home to the Fish River Canyon – the second largest canyon in the world. This spectacular natural phenomenon took hundreds of millions of years to evolve into the shape it has today.

One of the most famous landmarks of Namibia is without a doubt the towering red sand dunes of Sossusvlei, located in the Hardap Region. The tallest dune reaches 325 meters and is aptly named ‘Big Daddy’.

Windhoek – the economic, social, cultural, and political centre of Namibia, as well as its capital, is located in the Khomas Region. Surrounded by mountains, this bustling city offers cultural diversity through a unique mix of genuine Africa and European influences.

This statue of a bull greets visitors when they enter the city of Gobabis in the Omaheke Region, the largest city east of Windhoek and an important centre for cattle-ranching. Gobabis is also the gateway to the Trans-Kalahari Highway linking Namibia to Botswana and South Africa.

The Hoba meteorite is the world’s largest intact meteorite and lies on a farm near Grootfontein in the Otjozondjupa region. This massive meteorite is estimated to weigh 66 tonnes and to have landed on this exact location some 80 000 years ago.
