Former Colombian President Gustavo Petro criticised the government’s decision to restore diplomatic ties with Israel, saying re-establishing relations while Benjamin Netanyahu is in power “applauds the Gaza genocide.”
Colombia’s new right-wing government restored diplomatic relations with Israel two years after Petro severed ties over Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza

Mariam was 33 when she, journalistic colleagues and medical staff were hit by successive rounds of Israeli tank fire, leading to the suspicion that this was a “double tap” attack.

The brother of Palestinian child Islam Al-Ajouri clings to his brother’s body during a final farewell, after he was shot and killed by Israeli forces during a raid on Askar refugee camp in Nablus.
Apart from the tragedy of this man’s death, this is instructive for the scholar/historian. So much of what we view as plausible or implausible claims about events in the past is based on “common sense” ideas of what is possible and impossible in our own lives/experiences. This is a principle sometimes called uniformitarianism or the principle of analogy. It is always very humbling to encounter examples that show how blinkered this methodological tool can be.
🇵🇸 A young Israeli settler was filmed assaulting elderly Palestinian amputee Saeed al-Amour in al-Rakeez, Masafer Yatta, in the occupied West Bank on Saturday.
WAFA reports armed settlers attacked al-Amour under the protection of Israeli forces, leaving him injured and requiring treatment at Yatta Governmental Hospital. Footage shows a settler striking him with a club as he reaches for his crutch.
Eye on Palestine reports al-Amour lost his leg after being shot by settlers about a year and a half ago.
After Saturday’s assault, Israeli forces raided his home, searched it and confiscated his family’s phones, per Wafa.
Key claims Professor Jason Arday made, for which he was mocked in the press, appear to be true.
These include his 30 marathons challenge.
Below is my analysis piece from earlier this week - the narrative that Arday invented large parts of his backstory was wrong:
All journalists must read this essential piece of real journalism, verifying in detail Jason Arday's marathon running. Including unearthing his archived online diary about it. Sufficient to demonstrate the disgusting collapse in standards that occurred in the press.
Ghent University suspended the academic whose far-right race-science campaign preceded Professor Jason Arday’s death.
The Trump administration is pressuring Belgium to protect him.
The Black professor is dead. The scientific racist is protected by the state.
Rabbi David Yosef, Israel's Chief Sephardi Rabbi: "May the Holy One, blessed be He, destroy all of Gaza... (Palestinians) are not a people and have no rights here. The rights are ours... This is a people built, together with Iran, on the sanctity of murder... The meaning of redemption is that the Land of Israel will belong to us again, all of the Land of Israel... Gaza is ours, Nablus is ours, Jenin is ours; they all belong to us..."
Yosef, one of the two highest official religious authorities in Israel, said this during an event last Thursday at the Gush Katif Museum in Jerusalem, dedicated to commemorating the so-called "expulsion" of Israeli settlers from the Gaza Strip settlements in 2005.
David Yosef is the brother of former chief rabbi Yitzhak Yosef and the son of former chief rabbi Ovadia Yosef, who was one of the most influential religious figures in Israel since its establishment. All three have shared and expressed the same views regarding Palestine and Palestinians, views firmly based in the Jewish religion.
Note: unlike a previous subtitled version of this video circulating online, this version includes a full accurate translation. I also added an excerpt not found in the original video.
MSF has condemned the detention of Dr. Dima Mohammed Amin, a Palestinian obstetrics and gynecology specialist, from her home in the occupied West Bank, calling her the latest victim of Israel's systematic campaign against Palestinian healthcare workers.
MSF said she joins detained doctors including Hussam Abu Safiya, Iyad Al-Rantisi, and Mohammed Obeid, who have not been charged with any offence.
The organization demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all arbitrarily detained Palestinian medics.
Mark Ruffalo links Paramount to Oracle’s ties to the Israeli military
“They are crushing workers and consolidating the wealth of the world for their own power and concentrated dominance.”
Ruffalo criticized Larry and David Ellison while opposing Paramount’s Warner Bros. deal, arguing that Oracle’s role in Israel’s war effort should be part of the conversation around the merger.
Paramount called his remarks “antisemitic” and “a bridge too far.”
