On a journey to a healthier life thanks to GLP-1 agonist peptides. Down 40 pounds over two years. Started with Sema, now Tirz, next Reta? (no medical advice)
@PeptideBase lol, you have to be deep down the RUO peptide rabbit hole to think compounding died. Why do you think Lilly wants Reta classed as a biologic so badly?
@lakemandude We’ll see. I think compounding is their biggest problem now. Biologic classification shuts that down before it can start for Reta. Compounding is a lot more appealing to most people. Even my MD approves.
@lakemandude FDA approval through either path, BLA or NDA, enables all that. Biologic classification extends the exclusivity period before generics could be introduced. But I don't know what "much stronger legal tools" it enables to pursue RUO that don't already exist under NDA.
@ManOnThePen What does Reta's classification as a biologic imply for insurance coverage? Seems like that will effectively restrict access. And what does it imply about Lilly's marketing of it? Zepbound remains the default and Reta is a premium option for more extreme cases?
@lakemandude It's kind of a struggle. I refuse to subsist on protein bars and protein drinks. Similar problem as traditional dieting. If you're miserable you won't stick with it.
@PeptideList The public face of RUO peptides does seem dominated by influencers who could be reasonably described as "fitness enthusiasts, biohackers, & looksmaxxers" even though lots of other people benefit too. Those other people have much lower visibility though.
Looking for experiences from those who have switched from Tirz to Reta. On 15 mg Tirz now. Did you stop Tirz for a few weeks to clear it first? Or straight switch to 2 mg Reta the next week?
@bigredpeps Did you start at 1 mg for four week? Then up to 2 mg?
Glad I found your account. Trying to find more Reta experiences from actual overweight people and not fitness gurus.
@cremieuxrecueil This is wild. Wegovy (sema) at 2.4 mg was barely tolerable even after slowly titrating. I was on the toilet late at night a couple times a week with cramps. I dealt with it because it worked. I can't begin to imagine taking 7.2 mg of the stuff. Tirz has been night and day better.
@RetaDiary I really appreciate your insights. So much of the content on Reta out there is from people who were already reasonably fit and are trying to max out. I would like to find more voices like yours that are trying to overcome a lifetime struggle with weight. Any recommendations?
