Sadness arrives uninvited, spreading easily like winter frost across glass. Joy demands more—it requires us to search, to kindle, to protect the flame against every wind that would snuff it out. Yet this harder path, this deliberate choice to seek light in the dark, becomes the foundation of not just our own flourishing but the very fabric that holds our communities together. When we choose joy despite everything that argues against it, we don't just save ourselves—we illuminate the way for everyone around us.
New CMAJ piece from Dr. Julio Montaner, Dr. Robert Hogg & Stephen Lewis outlines why Canada must lead the global effort in sustaining progress toward 2030 HIV targets by delivering on the promise of a made-in-Canada strategy - TasP - to end HIV/AIDS!

Foreign aid ≠ charity. What aid CAN be is an investment in a healthier future – but only if Canada commits to it.
HOWEVER: as we continue to see sharp rises in global need, Canada took a step back, cutting our international assistance budget 🫤
This piece in @TheHillTimes, by Marlen Mondaca (@kinvia_ca) and Martineve Pajonas (@UPADveloppemen1), doubles down on the importance of protecting investments in nutrition and food security as a cornerstone of global stability and peace 🌍🕊️ https://t.co/u04tT5HbCL

Research Saves Lives
At Johns Hopkins, we just went live with an expansive website showing the extraordinary value of research, the impact of cuts to research, what's at stake, resources for our research community, etc.

Here's what I’m fighting for on International #WomensDay & every day. What abt you?
Morgan Harris’s daughters and family have changed history. They would not back down when they were told no, that authorities would not search for their mother’s remains in the landfill.
Now, their mother is going home to them. It was a battle that played out publicly in front of Canada and the world. The genocide of our women and girls displayed in the most degrading and horrible way. But these daughters stood tall, the warrior blood in their veins carried them through to fight for justice. It took over two years. But, it’s proven our women matter. We are valuable and worth finding. Worth fighting for.
I am so proud of these girls. Here is a montage of some of the events of the past couple of years featuring Cambria Harris, Elle Harris and Melissa Robinson.
