So Upside Down

Forget about their nuclear ambitions. Forget about their terrorist proxies. Forget about their 5000 missiles. Iran executed what most experts say is 30,000 unarmed protesters in cold blood — and publicly executed thousands more after “trials.” And they treat women worst of all denying them basic rights. (Not that the women’s groups or college campuses are coming to the aid of these oppressed peoples).

And this is a critical moment in the Iran conflict with Iran having to decide whether to fold or attack America’s ships.

And so what do Democrats do? Schedule votes to stop all US efforts on Iran and to deny aid to Israel, whose people are surviving over 1000 ballistic missiles aimed at its civilians (what Democrats like to call war crimes and violations of international law).

They are undermining our position, ignoring the outrageous behavior of Iran and putting politics over policy. Agree or not unless you actively support the Iranian regime these failing motions at this time only put our troops more in harm’s way. The Iranians read the New York Times.

And it’s clear that moderate democratic presidential candidates, if there are any, all feel they have to abandon their long held beliefs to cater to the perceived left position with votes they know are not passing anyway but gets cheers from the activists who now clearly own the Bernie Sanders party.

Calm down America.

Our founders put in a system of checks and balances that will be guardrails for whomever gets elected whether they like it or not.

There are no communists or fascists being elected. We live in an emotional social media world where everything is exaggerated and emotions are being spun up.

We will have more elections in two years. And another one in 4 years.

Go vote for your choice. Pick whomever you think will be a better leader.

And give whoever wins a chance to govern because we all have to live together and respect the outcomes of our elections.

No one should forget how America reached this chaotic moment that has President Biden leaving the race just months before Election Day.

Over two years ago, No Labels proposed a Unity ticket as an insurance policy against exactly this sort of scenario. It was clear to millions of Americans that a Trump/Biden rematch was a disaster in more ways than one. Unfortunately, the same elites who boxed out competitors in the Democratic primary also worked to shut down our effort. Now we are seeing the consequences of their potentially unlawful maneuvering and scheming to limit Americans’ choices.

If Democrats actually believe it when they say they want to save democracy they have an easy way to prove it. They should select a Unity presidential ticket now that includes a Republican on it.
