@refsupportuk A number of refs who decry them have never used them. Usually say 'I man manage' them; 2 minutes later they're telling you about games that went tits-up.
Granted they could be difficult to manage once you've got more than a couple in sin-bin but how often does that happen?

Typical usage is capped at around £2500 is all they needed to say, they either weren't briefed properly or didn't understand.

45% rate never raised much extra tax it just encouraged tax avoidance; it's a complete red herring. Political energy should be spent on cutting avoidance routes not the headline rate
