Great month spent in France saw back end of Le Tour, then on to the Olympics which was superb after a very inauspicious start. Highlight being in the finish area when Pidcock got boo'd after going for the gap. Solid third in total medal table ;) #Olympics2024Paris
@AndyC_F1 Energy generated in the UK should be subject to a windfall tax, including renewables (joke about wind power somewhere).
Should've been the same with those who profited massively from Covid.
Largely they've not made excessive profits due to good business but just luck.
@CTR_Paul@AndyC_F1 Can't you get a chicken pox vaccine now? People used to get sent to sleep overs at kids who had chicken pox, times have changed a bit.
There's no point in the Home Office recruiting more staff to process asylum claims if they make perverse decisions. Currently over 50% of applications from Albanians are granted. In France the figure is 2% and in Germany zero. Why?
@refsupportuk A number of refs who decry them have never used them. Usually say 'I man manage' them; 2 minutes later they're telling you about games that went tits-up.
Granted they could be difficult to manage once you've got more than a couple in sin-bin but how often does that happen?
@AndyC_F1@thetimes Just had a big gender discrimination case where shelf stacking in Asda stores was deemed to be equivalent to working in their warehouses....
@no1lino@CraigLangton5@RefereeHalsey Slogans, statements, images and advertising 'For any offence the player and/or the team will be
sanctioned by the competition organiser, national football association or by FIFA.'
Not supposed to be down to the referee to punish on the day.
@refsupportuk The semi-automatic tech being trialled in the UCL is supposed to provide the 3D image in ~10 seconds, and remove need for manual line drawing. Clearly still teething problems with it at the minute as seen in the time in the Liverpool game, and Spurs game last week.
Government prioritises asylum seekers for social housing over British citizens, and pays multi-billions annually for hotels and private accommodation but can serve up a processing centre that's not fit for purpose #marston#englishchannel
NEW: Sources close to Privileges Committee say evidence is so damning that Boris Johnson could be 'gone by Christmas' if he returns.
One Tory MP tells me any attempt to kill the inquiry could 'bring down the govt'.
Yet momentum builds behind Johnson.

Giving away another £200 billion in untargeted and unfunded energy hand-outs was always a daft idea.
Most of the measures were supported by Labour.
Hated Boris' character but with Truss a very likely successor I wasn't too keen to get rid of the elected PM #TrussUnfitToGovern
@CTR_Paul Most don't know what a kwh is. Would have to convert it to number of cups of tea or something.
Typical usage is capped at around £2500 is all they needed to say, they either weren't briefed properly or didn't understand.
@AndyC_F1@CTR_Paul I was surprised Villa went for him it far too early. Did a good job at Rangers but the EPL is now all about tactical nous. That said Villa's attacking players have been poor individually. Even at Liverpool Coutinho performed 1 in 3 games, well past it now
@CTR_Paul This law change making this a handball offence was down to pundits, including Lineker, screaming a goal shouldn't be allowed after it had hit the scorer's hand even it was the handling was completely accidental. Interpretation bit is what they class as immediately scored..
45% rate never raised much extra tax it just encouraged tax avoidance; it's a complete red herring. Political energy should be spent on cutting avoidance routes not the headline rate
£500 billion in hands outs for Covid and energy rebates tough to pay for... #minibudget2022
