@JohnSimpsonNews Weasel words John. "Cracked down on student protests" means "accommodated student protests" and "killed large numbers" means, "returned deadly force against rioters who were using deadly force".
@tnewtondunn You're assuming that New Labour would rather be in government as part of a coalition with the left and centre than be an opposition party under a government of the right or far right.
@BarbaraBleiman I have been taking a year away from English, covering other subjects and seeing what they are aiming at it has really hit me how hollow English is now. The goals are reduced to superficial PETAL paragraphs stating GASP with minimal analysis.
@TTRadioOfficial There's an argument there, but what happens to those whose brains aren't malleable enough, or who don't respond well to the way they are changed? We have a lot of people going through life suppressing themselves and their abilities because they were broken in at school.
@DannyBate4 Great article, I used to teach pronunciation for ESL based heavily on Adrian Underhill's phonemic chart and always wondered how we ended up with such a foreign sound that we can't really do without. Thanks for sharing @MichaelRosenYes it makes me wonder what we will get next.
@dallascampbell@MichaelRosenYes@HilaryK777 Yet since Brexit we have to follow stricter rules (obviously) because we are no longer in the EU, therefore it is a Brexit related issue. It's also visited countries that enforce rules, the vitising nation gets little to no say, even if you use capitals.
@worstall ..for third party nationals. Before Brexit we were EU nationals and those rules did not apply to us even though we were not Schengen. The change for British citizens is therefore Brexit related.
@RelentlsOptmist@BradfemlyWalsh Fair enough, still, I'm 40 to 60 and I know tonnes of people who wouldn't recognise any albums not by Oasis or the Spice girls. Some may be able to identify Parklife.
