I heard recently that a behaviour of #ADHD / #Autism was hoarding
to which I immediately thought,
“Ok…but obviously plants don’t count”

The theme of the day in my practice today was APPETITE…
Some clients feel they have zero appetite while others feel they could eat all day & still be hungry!
Which feels like you?
Are you aware of the connections between STRESS + APPETITE?
Massive change can be the result of small acts of nurturing.
Reaching your health goals doesn’t have to be overwhelming
or restrictive
or hard,
despite what you may have been told.
Weight loss is not the solution
to a condition that causes weight gain.
So if your Dr has prescribed you to just
“eat less & exercise more”
you need a second opinion.
Met with a Medical Practitioner & felt ok with the advice offered, until…
“I lost my sense of taste…so great to lose the holiday weight…I don’t want to taste again”
All confidence was lost; we clearly don’t view HEALTH the same way.
If it’s fatphobic, it’s not HealthCare!
After all of my education, research, & clinical practice, even I don’t know the recipe or where to buy “whatever” that these teens of mine want to eat all the time.

Tomorrow is #BellLetsTalk Day which is great,
yet,
if you share this # one day a year & are completely negligent to the mental health needs around you the other 364, I highly doubt anyone feels safe to chat with you about their mental health.
Let’s talk about that instead.
@mdwhittaker There ya go, that’s the original point that you were trying to make!! & my response is actually getting straight to the heart of the og post as it’s nearly impossible to adequately support someone if we don’t know WHO they are.
Again, you’re heart is in the right direction!!
@mdwhittaker I’m glad you see what I’m saying!
And as for terms, “Pregnant Person” would be appropriate when speaking in general with of course using their name &/or pronouns when speaking specifically.
@mdwhittaker Hmmm, using “MOM”, “Pregnant mother” all sound a lot like you are most definitely saying that pregnancy = mom. I’m not challenging your point, it’s absolutely valid, what I’m saying is if you want to support them well, don’t refer to them as something they don’t want to be called
@mdwhittaker You’re going in the right direction Matt yet pregnancy doesn’t = motherhood, nor the title of Mom & if this isn’t a part of their current identity, it’s invalidating to refer to them as such. They need love & support regardless of their choice to raise the child they carry.
“Have Fun.
Be Kind.
Make Your Own Choices.
I Love You.”
Things I say regularly as a parent, but not often enough to myself.
What do you need to #tellmyselfmore
@mdwhittaker I can’t help with your new found appreciation for golf, but I CAN help you prioritize your mental health...which actually may help with the golf thing lol
