Every day, destructive fishing vessels destroy miles upon miles of ecosystem in so-called protected UK waters, while the government stands by and lets it happen. (1/2)
🕷️survey of Bettisfield, Fenn's & Whixall Mosses for NRW: Minicia marginella new to🏴, lots of Rhysodromus histrio📸, Carorita limnaea 📸, Glyphesis cottonae📸, Heliophanus dampfi, Attulus floricola & caricis, Dolomedes. Not too shabby! @BritishSpiders@MeresandMosses@SteB777
For visitors to Charles Sinker Fields Bird Hide, please park at Morris bridge NNR car park. Avoid the verge along the lane, since it limits access for emergency services and for locals. Two blue badge spaces are at the hide. #birding@ShropsWildlife@NE_WestMids@sosbirding
As a heads up, volunteers will be doing restoration works on the fields near the Charles Sinker Fields bird hide tomorrow. If you plan to go, please expect that there may be local disturbance which may limit bird sightings. #birding@ShropsWildlife@NE_WestMids@sosbirding
Seeing shop windows taking the message to the people of #Macclesfield about @DanesMoss, seeing community groups find novel approaches and keep up the good fight, it's truly inspiring.
Fired up for the day now. Let's go!!!
Saturday 17th of September there will be a family friendly late summer walk with photographer Stephen Barlow at 2pm. He will be sharing facts about the wildlife that can be seen at this time of year. https://t.co/1nzu5KIh7c @ShropsWildlife@NE_WestMids@SteB777@sosbirding
It's #BogDay. Peat bogs provide all sorts of benefits to us and the planet: carbon storage, water quality, flood alleviation & habitat for rare biodiversity.
That’s why we think about peat a lot in the West Midlands with our #PeatforThePlanet project!

@Dorfoldfood 2/2 I knew one of the stall holders, all others seemed to be far from that. Glad I came on my own, at £8.95 it was a waste of money. A food festival where I am from orginally(free entry)is a full day experience. I paid for this and lasted under an hour. Beyond poor
@Dorfoldfood 1/2 I will try and be as constructive as possible but.... The "festival" is an absolute disgrace. 1.5 food tents at best, totalling at most 30 stalls. Perhaps 15 hot food stalls with nothing remotely out of the norm on offer. As for local produce....

*Very* excited that this will be opening at Dales Countryside Museum on 16 July, thanks to funding from @yorkshire_dales Sustainable Development Fund and @PenninePeatLIFE, "an exhibition that starts thousands of years ago and runs up to the present day":

Perhaps you don't care about wildlife entanglement? But you must appreciate a beautiful beach? Please consider alternative decorations and gifts and if you must insist on having balloons, please make sure they don't end up here. 3/3
