@michael_hutson @TM_Eubanks @nyrath And these losses are generally (I believe) considered steering losses, because they derive from having to burn off your velocity vector where an instantaneous burn would not suffer such. Steering losses are also a thing on ascents, when you have to pitch up to counteract gravity.

The sharpness of the curve depends on gravity of course (though also altitude). The lower the curvature, the lower the losses.

In such a frame, the faster horizontal you're going, the more "centrifugal" force you experience, canceling gravity. The frame (and centrifugal force itself) are fictitious of course, but.
