Not bad saying this was taken early September (just under 3 months after planting) during one of the driest summers with a hosepipe ban🌸🌺🌼

Once the lawn was down it was time for the planting! 😄🌸🌺
Didn’t end up being good timing to lay turf and plant as a couple of days later hosepipe ban was put in place ❌💧

Once the soil was down and levelled it was time to decide & mark out the border and lawn size
Took a little time to try and get the right balance and size but we got there in the end
Once the paving was finished next thing was to prepare the ground 🪴
The narrow existing border had membrane and bark down. This was removed and dug over
The rest of the garden was then levelled before 7 tonne of soil was delivered all of which had to be wheelbarrowed in!
The existing garden had a raised paved area stepping down to rest of the garden
As we were reducing the paved area to make a smaller patio area we removed the raised paving and created a step down to the seating area
Also put a nice curve into existing paving 🪴
Under the Cunninghamia, reside various shade lovers.
Notably, Galanthus Greatorex Double, Helen Tomlinson, Sabine, Casanova et al.
Arum italicum Green Marble and Cyclamen coum
Last summer I moved into my new house🏠
The garden was nice & low maintenance but not quite what I had in mind🪴
So during the summer I started a project to create a garden to attract insects & pollinators while keeping an area to sit out and relax🌳🌸🐝
Updates to follow..
Once all the concrete had been removed it was then time to start to remove some of the paving
The idea was to scale down the size of the current patio to increase border size and make way for a lawn!
Once the summerhouse/shed had been removed it revealed a large area of thick concrete! All of which had to be removed
Safe to say it kept us busy for a bit!
This first task was to find someone to take down and remove the shed / summerhouse
As much as I liked it I decided it just took up too much space in the garden
So the decision was to remove it…
