@BowTiedCrow@BowTiedHRT The metal at the bottom supposedly made them grounding, but if it does it’s not noticeable. Whereas… Barefoot on grass, I can actually watch my ankle veins get bigger. And very uncomfortable.
@DickieFromage@OwenBenjamin I understand his distinction and reason for it - there may be some worth in it, but I don’t agree with his conclusion that money doesn’t matter is true or accurate. Money still matters. People (including him) still need it. And the economy WILL be affected.
@DickieFromage@OwenBenjamin I understand his point. I know what fiat is. And it bought the land, supplies, and animals he owns. He was arguing irrelevant semantics, and @OwenBenjamin is better than that.
@OwenBenjamin Whether it is sentient or not. As if that matters - fine, just say AI on the behalf of some evil people is coming for the jobs, it doesn’t change the impact.
@OwenBenjamin I can’t believe @OwenBenjamin would argue that money doesn’t matter. I mean, I also hate the money system - but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a reality… as if land doesn’t cost money. And AI is definitely going to further hollow out the middle class

@OldRangerJoe@Aristotle7777 People act in their own best self interest. Both men and women. The more valuable, you are the more highly you will be valued, but if you limit the ways that you are valuable than you limit the ways that you can be valued.
@OldRangerJoe@Aristotle7777 Technically.
Realistically, if what else you bring to the table is valuable and perceptible - then they see, notice, and appreciate it.
This is true.

Wealthy families do not sell assets. They pledge them.
Swiss banks will lend up to 80% against a portfolio at around 3% in francs.
You sell nothing. No realised gain. No taxable event. Nothing remitted.
This is why the very rich appear to have almost no income while spending freely.
They are not avoiding tax. They are avoiding the transaction that creates it.
