As Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, I am deeply concerned by reports of residents losing thousands of dollars after paying to ship vehicles to Cuba and receiving bounced checks in return.

My office will review whether the companies involved possess all required local, state, and federal licenses and authorizations. If we find evidence of unlawful activity or transactions conducted without the required federal approvals, we will take immediate action, including revoking Local Business Tax Receipts.

Consumers deserve honesty, transparency, and protection. No business is above the law, and those who violate it should expect consequences.

Miami-Dade County stands for consumer protection, accountability, and the rule of law.
