Yesterday, we shipped v0.2.0 with drawing primitives. Here’s what that looks like in practice!
Write the canvas, build, and render. Add twelve more lines, rebuild, and render again.
~40 lines of Go painting a native window! No Chromium, No system WebView!
We’re happy to announce Natyv v0.2.0 is now out!!
Natyv lets you build native desktop apps where your logic runs as a sandboxed WASM guest. There's no bundled browser and no WebView, and today you write it in Go - 🧵
Upgrade with brew upgrade natyv.

If you're building desktop tools and tired of shipping Chromium, we'd love for you to try it and tell us what breaks.

⚡ Leaner installs
brew install natyv used to download 378 MB of dependencies it never used. It now downloads none. natyv reaches a window in about 115–135 ms, and NATYV_STARTUP_TRACE=1 shows where each millisecond goes. -
@jamonholmgren hi!! we also have a desktop framework in beta at the moment, if you’d like to check it out to compare!! you can find our work at https://t.co/5MBJCYzYbJ, let us know what you think!!☺️
Have you ever wondered what UI frameworks local AI desktop apps actually ship? Our founder actually researched this topic with five examples and wrote up a piece about her findings!

Additionally, Natyv is live on Product Hunt today. A native desktop runtime with no bundled browser, no Electron-sized memory tax. Would love your feedback: https://t.co/iNsRekbWAM
This morning, we’d like to share a write up our founder wrote about tackling the issue of originally being at ~70-90% CPU usage at idle and how she went about not only finding this issue, but root causing it and implementing a fix! https://t.co/5G73QCQ4ST
@drazendotlic Thank you so much!! Please let us know if you have any feedback, questions, or comments! We’d be more than happy to collaborate on this!!
Today, we're announcing the initial beta release of Natyv: a native
desktop app runtime with no bundled browser.
Electron apps can idle at 300MB+ of RAM doing nothing. We wanted to know
if that's actually necessary. 🧵
macOS/Linux only today (brew tap natyv-io/natyv && brew install natyv),
cross-compiles to Windows/Linux, verified in real VMs. Go SDK live on
https://t.co/CU7nTTZsrl. It's early (v0.1.0) and we mean it:
