Congratulations to Dr. Nauman Ahmad (@NaumanPide) on Successfully Completing his PhD in Econometrics from @PIDE_PSE, his dissertation titled “Time-to-Event Models: Comparison, Modification and Application.”

His research introduces a modified Cox model that addresses three major limitations of the traditional approach: outliers, heteroscedasticity, and time-dependent covariates simultaneously. This innovation enhances the accuracy and reliability of time-to-event analyses across disciplines.
Dr. Amena Urooj (Assistant Professor, PIDE) and Dr. Saud Ahmed Khan, @SaudAhmed118 (Assistant Professor, PIDE) supervised the thesis, while Dr. Eatzaz Ahmed, Professor at Iqra University, served as the external examiner.

Some amazing points raised during the session about Culture and economics by @durre_nayab_ and @ShahidMohmand79 at Econfest day 2.

1- Culture kya hai?
Culture is man made environment and it is often used as an excuse to justify tardiness and wrong doings within our society.

2-Our culture is talent repellant.
Meaning we don’t attract intellectuals due to preferences for short cuts and quick fixes.This has made us unethical as-well and people our reluctant to do business with Pakistanis as a result.

3-Cultural differences translate into economic differences.Using Max Weber’s Protestant work ethic as an example.Shahid Sahab explained the economic consequences of cultural differences.

4-Trying to find a messiah for our solutions has lead to a dearth of critical thinking from our society.

5- Aisay kaisay chalay ga?
PIDE Basics survey has shown trust on major institutions is diminishing.Without trust people will be reluctant to invest and give back to the country.
