An effective industrial carbon price is the last remaining pillar of Canada’s climate policy.

Our upcoming modeling makes clear that postponing a CAD 130/tonne price until 2040 cannot be justified on economic grounds + has climate & competitiveness risks.

What will industrial carbon pricing cost the oil sands sector if the Canada-Alberta MOU moves forward?

Our latest research shows costs would be minimal—just a Timbit per barrel if the price reaches $130/t in 2030.

Check out our NEW BLOG exploring business cases for renewables in Edmonton. It finds that Edmonton is a competitive jurisdiction in Canada for developing new power projects, but land-use constraints and policy uncertainty (like future TIER credit prices) create headwinds that investors must navigate carefully. NEW BLOG by @Samhharrison today! It highlights the underreporting of renewable fuels in the data used to produce Canada's GHG inventory. This has important implications, including an underestimation of the emissions benefit of provincial and federal low carbon fuels policies. Read the blog here: https://t.co/45Gjy5jTcw

NEW analysis finds that we don't expect increases to US tax credits (known as the 45Z tax credit) to have large effects on the long-run CFR credit price or fuel prices available to Canadian producers. Read our latest blog by @Samhharrison here: https://t.co/gAN3m9PJGe
