there was actually MORE parking that was offered by NCSU at Talley than was approved by the board at Abbott’s Creek so that’s a red herring. Also there are 10,000 people parked at NCSU every day that don’t need parking to vote. And 9,000 students who don’t have cars for whom parking is not relevant. Yes turnout is up, but turnout everywhere in Wake is up 45% (also Saturdays and Sundays at Talley all faculty and staff parking was available to voters, as well as after 5 pm weekdays). Students are angry at the obvious pretexts used to make it harder to vote. Not same county, but in Guilford thousands of students marched to vote at Union Square in protest. the pretext for denying the site was that A&T and UNC G had never had a mid-term site, but at the same meeting a site was added in Stokesdale that had never had a mid-term site. Students saw through this - a site where those living near it where 90% blacks was rejected, while a site 90% white was approved
