Hot off the presses in @eLife! Work with @matt_k_leonard, Matthias Sjerps & Eddie Chang (@ChangLabUCSF).
Here, we combine behavior, ECoG recordings, & computational modeling to examine the neural encoding of a temporal speech cue (VOT) in human STG [1/7] https://t.co/ufxw3Yx9Zr
My Lord, how have I not read this book before now? I'm only on page 19, and I've already dogeared it to death. If I wait until I'm done to do quotes like I usually do, it'll be the longest post in history. Instead, I'll do them as I go.
Bayesian modeling of perception and action: draft of book with Konrad Kording (@KordingLab) and Daniel Goldreich (@dangoldreich) done after 10 years...
To be published by @mitpress but already freely available on https://t.co/FTwJd1zDH1. Comments are welcome (link there)!! 1/2
Very proud of our work to synthesize a lot of amazing research in a new chapter w @ChangLabUcsf & @YuliaOganian in forthcoming Springer Handbook of Auditory Research (Ed. @jpeelle & Lori Holt): Cortical Representation of Speech Sounds: Insights from Intracranial Electrophysiology
Nobody wants to make mistakes, but we all do! Consider setting aside a lab meeting this year to talk about how to prevent and detect errors in your own work. More at https://t.co/koZgF6kJfb.

I’m also excited to share a new interactive brain viewer to accompany our @CellCellPress paper on speech processing in the human brain! You can play around with the data + click on electrodes to see their receptive fields and stimulation results. https://t.co/CzP8miMGgQ
It’s been a long road to get here, but our paper (with @YuliaOganian, @ChangLabUcsf, and Jeffery Hall) is now out in @CellCellPress! We found that speech processing may partly bypass A1 using ECoG recordings, stimulation, and an ablation case study. https://t.co/pxcoAA6NnI
Thrilled to share: starting Dec'21 I will lead a research group at the MPI for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen. We will study the cognitive and neural mechanisms of dynamic cognition (timing, attention, prediction…). Hiring soon, add coming! @MPICybernetics @TueNeuroCampus
I've made all the teaching materials for my Sensation & Perception class publicly available!
Slides, lecture videos, in-class activities, assignment prompts, and syllabus available here: https://t.co/DWQaMyh2QF

Calling all alumni! If you've passed through our program in *any* capacity, we invite you to fill out this short survey. We know our alumni are out doing great things in the world, and we want to hear about it!

10 years of replication and reform in psychology. What has been done and learned?
Our latest paper prepared for the Annual Review summarizes the advances in conducting and understanding replication and the reform movement that has spawned around it.

Delaying school start times by 1hr = 1) more sleep, 2) better attendance, and 3) superior academic performance. Conclusion: "A delay in school start time should be seriously considered to improve sleep and academic achievements of students." Quite. https://t.co/9ShdYw7MJc
Excited to share a new project: The Language Neuroscience Podcast. Aimed at scientists interested in the neural substrates of language (students/postdocs/faculty). Episode 1: my first guest is the brilliant @ev_fedorenko. Please listen, share, & subscribe! https://t.co/vflcfxbLS5
Y’all! Check out my new paper in press at JEP:LMC w/ first author @violetsarebrown + @juliafstrand!
Grammatical number cues guide listeners’ expectations & constrain (but don’t extinguish) activation of grammatically incongruent referents that sound the same.
Prereg + OpenData!
To celebrate our latest VWP (Visual World Paradigm) paper being accepted (!!), @juliafstrand and I have created a new paradigm: the DWP (Drinkable World Paradigm) 🧵
