It's summer, and NDEE and our partners have been sampling public beaches for harmful algal blooms (HABs). Keep an eye on your favorite lake on NDEE’s website: https://t.co/X0JiBO4A6h where you can also sign up for email updates!
We’re gearing up for more hot weather! Here are some tips from @ENERGY that you can use to increase energy savings this summer while keeping your home cooler:
ICYMI–Platte Center is updating its wellhead protection plan! NDEE’s WHP program is a voluntary program that helps communities prevent water supply contamination. Platte County & @LPNNRD will host an open house 7 p.m., Aug. 12, at the Platte Center Village Hall to discuss updates
SELECT: “These plans are voluntary, and the village moved the project ahead to obtain a better understanding of the risk of the water supply to nitrate contamination, which could be a concern in the future."

It's #RecycleTuesday! Did you know recycling can save energy? It takes energy to extract/process virgin materials. Instead, we can reuse materials that have already been processed! See your recycling energy savings by using the EPA's iWARM tool: https://t.co/Hweg0lHXSP
NDEE is currently conducting a waste characterization study! Information learned from this study can be used to better manage waste streams. Learn more about the study, as well as how it’s conducted (sorting by hand!) in our recent All About NDEE: https://t.co/9gEx4pSf2v
Our Fish Tissue Advisory webpage has been updated! Some contaminants bioaccumulate in fish, and these advisories provide awareness so anglers can make informed decisions about fish they eat. Check the website before heading to your favorite fishing spot! https://t.co/du1X5qmTIN
As July 1 approaches, NDEE and @NebraskaDNR are preparing to become the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment! As part of that effort, we are announcing the launch of the DWEE landing page! Check it out! https://t.co/swKkj6Yumb
We’re hiring!
NDEE is hiring for a Deputy Director position, and has jobs available in our Air Construction Permits, Environmental Safety, Drinking Water and Accounting sections! See the full job descriptions here: https://t.co/MupHANneBQ
Here are some economic facts for #RecycleTuesday! In a 2020 Recycling Economic Information study from the EPA, the agency found that in a single year, recycling and reuse activities in the US accounted for 681,000 jobs, $37.8 billion in wages, and $5.5 billion in tax revenues.
NDEE is accepting applications for the 2024 Clean Diesel Rebate program! Applications are due Friday, July 25, 2025, for rebates to replace old diesel school buses and diesel trucks with newer, cleaner-burning models. More: https://t.co/uz96cCaF5g
@OPPDCares is starting a new Electricity 101 video series! This weekly series will give an overview of electricity basics and the ways electricity impacts our lives.

ICYMI – NE will receive $1.6 million+ in Brownfields grants from the @EPA! Funds will be used by @CityHastingsNE to clean up the former Hastings Middle School site and by the SENDD to conduct 30 Phase I and 15 Phase II environmental site assessments in its region.
We are happy to announce that 14 selectees in Region 7 were selected to receive over $19 million in Brownfields Assessment, Cleanup and Revolving Loan Fund (ARC) grants!
The Brownfields program is essential to EPA’s mission to protect human health and the environment, working to transform contaminated sites and blighted properties into community assets.
