Congratulations to Dr. Edna Varner, PI Residency Coach, who was awarded the 2022 Humanitarian of the Year at the Alton Park Development Corporation’s celebration of the newly renovated Piney Woods Elementary School Community Center. Edna grew up in the Alton Park housing project.

Today I’m celebrating a Day of Remembrance with my @HillsElem 4th graders. They think it’s double independent reading day, but as for me, I’m “remembering” that reading is mostly for fun - not test prep!

Not normally a fan of passing notes in class, but this made me smile. We’ve learned that ethical people consider the feelings of others. Just reading, “You are not a weridow.” Probably made someone feel much, much better! @HillsElem @ELeducation

Please take time to watch at least the beginning of the School Board Meeting tonight. I was so proud of the 5th graders from @HillsElem lead the entire room in a “Crew” exercise they use for community building at CHES. Great job @LindsayStarnes2 !!
