1. No wounds with iSpirt and aadhaar. I have disagreements with iSpirt and I have a problem with the mass surveillance system built around Aadhaar that Nandan has knowingly enabled and helped create.
2. Nandan has worked pretty closely with the BJP govt. Party in power doesn’t appear to matter, but you would know better since you’ve worked with him and written a book with him.
3. Nandan is broadly perceived as being competent about technology. That doesn’t mean he is. Aadhaar has less access control than Wordpress, and you know that. Remember Rachana Khaira’s expose about Aadhaar read-write access being sold over Whatsapp? Under Nandan’s watch.
He’s a great sales guy, though. I know he thrives in selling bullshit surveillance tech during such windows: like we saw with UHID during COVID. Other peoples pain is his opportunity.
@acorn I agree with this framing, but then the state should codify it in law to prevent arbitrary application of power. Yes, WA has traits of a public infra, but so does social media at large. But alas, creating an exemption to the intermediary liability law will upset the US trade rep.
Many Indian think tanks act as lobbyists—publishing sponsored research without disclosure. In our @ThePrintIndia op-ed, we highlight this problem, esp. around the Draft Digital Competition Bill. Should disclosures be mandated by law? @nixxin@apar1984

@aiiteu condemns the anti-worker deployment policy introduced by @TCS that delegates the job to employees to find billable projects. It is a just another tactic to push more employees into PIP leading to consequent #layoffs. Our representative spoke to @NDTVProfit on this issue.
🚨One of the country’s largest quick-commerce platforms, @ZeptoNow, is shamelessly
imposing a system of “digital bonded labour” on a section of its workers through its Rural
Mobilization program — at a time when it's all set to go for a fresh round of IPO

1. Disagree with William Dalrymple's argument that WhatsApp uni history is witnessing a growth due to failure of Indian historians to reach the masses. There is a counter movement at play, much stronger than academia and is organic, that actively promotes unscientific ideas...
