President @KagutaMuseveni Commander-in-Chief of the UPDF, today passed out 11,948 recruits of the 18th Intake (2025/26) during a hybrid ceremony at Kaweweta Basic Military Training School, including 1,741 recruits from the Central African Republic who trained alongside their Ugandan counterparts.
The President urged the new soldiers to uphold discipline, safeguard their health, reject corruption and continuously build their professional skills, describing these values as the foundation of a successful military career and effective national service.
He underscored the importance of rigorous military training, accountability and continuous learning, noting that a modern army must remain physically prepared and professionally equipped to defend the nation.
President Museveni further emphasised that a strong military depends on a strong economy, highlighting commercial agriculture, manufacturing, ICT & services as key drivers of Uganda's transformation, while reaffirming the government's commitment to strengthening defence capabilities, improving soldiers' welfare and rehabilitating key infrastructure.
He also called on Ugandans to elect honest and accountable leaders in the upcoming LC I and Women's Council elections to strengthen the fight against corruption at the community level. #OpenGovUg
