Grateful for the current decision to restore school bus service to most of the areas in Howard County that lost it this year! We’re still advocating that HCPSS find ways to expand service sooner to struggling families.
Thousands of students in Howard County are getting their school buses back after the district cut bus service for about 3,500 children ahead of the 2023-2024 school year.

Happening right now: Families and students protesting outside the board of education meeting in Howard County. Positions and programs at risk of being cut. I explain @ 4:30, 5:30 & 6:15 p.m. @wbaltv11
#CareNotCuts Remember the shelter based staff are vital to helping families navigate CONFUSING school #transportation rights.
In previous years there was a spreadsheet for schools to look up staff names by shelter - but now they can only get 1 name per region. #WheresMyBus🚍
@chrispapst@HCPSS@FOXBaltimore The transportation budget is continuing to go up. Next year, HCPSS has budgeted almost $10 million extra for student transportation while not adding these students back to service. Families want to know where this money is going.
The Howard County Public School System will spend almost $10 million more for student transportation next year while continuing cuts to thousands. We have been asking for answers and have not heard any that sufficiently explain such a huge increase.
@BaltimoreBanner Bad dream is right! Howard County is spending almost $10 million more for transportation next year while thousands of children continue to be cut from bus service. Why? We do not think any of the answers explain the full picture.
@EmmaRespond School bus cuts continue for thousands of students but the student transportation budget is going up by almost $10 million. We still don’t understand why.
The Howard County Public School System's budget is in the county executive's hands. Currently included are massive HCPSS teacher, staff & program cuts.
We need you to come TOMORROW morning! Wednesday, March 20th at 8:00 AM at the George Howard Building!
