If you want proof that our health systems overlook women, just look at menopause.
In The New York Times @nytimes today, I share why I’m directing new funding to improve the standard of care for menopause and perimenopause. https://t.co/8BPLMDwxdI
New statement from Scott Pelley:
There has never been anything in America like 60 Minutes.
The Sunday tradition is the most successful program of any kind in history. For more than a decade, its innovative growth on every major online platform has extended its reach to countless millions around the world. This spring, at the end of our 58thseason, 60 Minutes grew rapidly with an unheard-of 9% jump in viewers on CBS.
“60” has been the number-one program in America for decades because our beloved audience finds integrity, quality, and humanity in our stories. When stewardship of the program passed to my colleagues and me, our responsibility was to expand energetically into a new age of media technology while preserving the values our audience expects. Now, the new owner of our network is casting this legend aside, apparently to curry a moment of favor with the Trump administration.
The waste is heartbreaking.
Last month, 60 Minutes lost its DNA when our entire senior leadership and two of our best on-air correspondents were cruelly fired without cause. Good people were silenced because they stood up for our audience. They stood for fairness against the forces of political bias; they stood for professionalism against chaos.
For my part, new management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story. I’ve been told to include assertions that are unverified. To date, in every case, I have managed to ignore these instructions or refuse them. Recently, politicians have been invited to choose correspondents for interviews on the broadcast. Giving politicians control over 60 Minutes interviews is not how this is done. Finally, incompetence and unprofessionalism in the new management have wreaked havoc. In a case involving one of my stories, the entire program came within 19 minutes of not getting on the air at all.
At 60 Minutes, we have fought harder than anyone knows to save the program that became an American icon. We owed that to our millions of viewers. I am deeply moved by the thousands of wishes we have received to “keep up the good fight.” Most of the men and women of CBS News are still in that fight. But now the collapse of values at the top has become untenable. The leadership of 60 Minutes is no longer recognizable. The principles I hold dear are gone, and so I must leave as well.
I depart after 37 years at CBS with one emotion—a heart brimming with gratitude for the men and women of CBS News who encouraged and enriched my work, very often at the risk of their own lives. I pray for a day when those people and their ideals are honored again—a day when sanity, competence, and courage return.

Now you can download and read Pope Leo XIV's Magnifica Humanitas, the first encyclical of his pontificate. The document was released by the Holy See on May 25, 2026.
The encyclical develops the Churchʼs social teaching in light of artificial intelligence, situating new questions of human dignity, labor, and the common good within the tradition that runs from Rerum Novarum through Centesimus Annus and Laudato Si'.

A group of West Side nuns whose fandom dates to Tim Duncan’s early playing days have been cheering on the team from the dining area of their provincial house.
Tonight, some of them watched in person at the Frost Bank Center, and blessed one of their favorite players, Luke Kornet, a self-described “lifelong Catholic,” before the game.
The Salesian Sisters haven’t jumped on the bandwagon. Their fandom dates back to the late 1990s. https://t.co/tqUSSWt2hM
Today marks the anniversary of the shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde where 19 children and two teachers were killed on May 24, 2022. I put this piece together on the 1 year anniversary. Hard to believe it's been 4 years. May the precious lives lost never be forgotten.
According to international humanitarian law, parties to conflict must distinguish between civilians & combatants at all times. Attacks against civilians & civilian objects are prohibited.
No more disregard for the law.
No more disregard for humanity.

Aprendamos a ser ricos de otra manera: más atentos a las relaciones, más comprometidos con el bien común, más apegados a nuestro territorio, más agradecidos a la hora de acoger e integrar a quienes vienen a vivir con nosotros.
Canada strongly condemns Russia’s launch of large-scale missile and drone attacks on civilian targets in Kyiv tonight.
For more than four years since Russia’s illegal invasion, it has greatly underestimated the courage, determination, and strength of the Ukrainian people — even as Putin’s regime has relentlessly bombed Ukrainian energy infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and homes.
We call on Russia to immediately cease these strikes and end this illegal war of aggression. They prolong human suffering and do nothing to change the fact that Russia will lose this war.
Canada will continue working closely with international partners to secure a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and Europe.
For years, educators believed that young people with intellectual disabilities were incapable of playing sports.
Dr. Frank Hayden, who has died at 96, helped dispel that myth, showing that kids with special needs were hindered by lack of opportunity. https://t.co/6xsLwLqmjy
