@solopribuilds Maybe things like live orchestras or the NFL. Maybe they just go away, and no one enjoys them anymore, but I doubt people will be rushing to see the robo opera or watch tesla bots play American football.

@pootlepress Identity loss and job security. Coding with Claude is a different skillset than writing everything yourself.

"In the weeds" developers will have to think more about systems, and those jobs have usually attracted different personalities. Round peg square hole in many ways.

@TrojanWallF5 Not sure what to make of that. If we play a full game, four quarters like we can, Troy can win this by 2 TDs. Just have to put it together. New offensive wrinkle from last week makes us better than advertised, I think. Secondary has to improve, though.

I don't think it's wrong to teach much of what they are teaching today, but there needs to be a shift to higher level systems engineering. Less in the weeds (but not none), more about how systems operate.

Why are we still telling 18-year-olds to spend 4 years learning computer science?
Genuinely asking.

What exactly will the average developer be doing in 5–10 years?
