@CommSec (Innumerate, much?) Inflation is cumulative, so now integrate the function to find the area under the curve (inflation is cumulative), and then report back to us on ...er.... deflation of petrol.
@galumay They could always provide no interim update of any element of the P&L until the full set of audited accounts are available. Would that be preferable?
@wrbailey8@WSJ Paraphrased: Vatican imposes energy poverty on people living in developing countries. God must be delighted in the people doing His work on earth.
@IEA This thanks to the part you played over the past decade, IEA... an incompetent organisation that has been captured by elitist ideologies that represent only special interest groups. It's on you
@mattwhitlock Energy Ignorance has consequences. The consequences of that ignorance are already self-evident to everyone but the blinkered ideologues who don't experience energy poverty.
@Magusrex3 @Sauronlordking If endemic corruption and world-record levels of crime are hallmarks of a reconciled state, then sure, South Africa had "reconciliation".
@Filapek Precious little good when the 4/10 that are wrong, are so wrong as to negate the 6/10 that are right to the extent of underperforming the index. No better evidence of the stockbroking and funds management industries adding very little value, than the proliferation of index funds
@Filapek Not sure about 6/10 for instos… doesn’t square up with the empirical observation that the overwhelming majority of PMs fail to outperform the market on a sustainable basis. And I very much doubt the brokers do better than instos in terms of stock picking.
@Filapek True. But if one doesn’t have the time (or skill) to conduct research, then one should simply by an index fund or give one’s capital to a professional manager to invest. Point is, the very last place to take investing cues is stockbroking analysts (or the media, for that matter)
@Filapek Yep. Having worked both on the buy and the sell side of equity research for 25 years, I have seen the ineptitude first hand. Take those BS “target prices”: near-perfect lagging indicators. Broking analysts are little more than talking heads.
@Filapek First principles based, fundamental research. In the case of coal (and oil), it was patently obvious that the global supply curve was being pushed to the left by ESG, while the demand curve kept moving to the right.
@JohnGMcNeill67 @AVindman Exactly. If the oil and gas industry was capable of price gouging, why does it go for long periods (e.g., the 6 or 7 years leading up to 2020) effectively choosing to make low profits - not even enough to cover its cost of capital?

@WorthW0rds @mindofmyown1111@somethingsummit@Hicksyfern@DrAseemMalhotra Anyone you thinks this didn't happen in places other than just healthcare is being intentionally obtuse. As for "disinformation", that objectively applies to anyone who says people who lost their livelihoods because they were unvaccinated, have no right to feel aggrieved.
@sequi_simon Western-centric myopia, much? And what about the 5 or 6 billion people living in developing countries who also want to enjoy the convenience of car travel? They should just do without?
