A novel cortical biomarker can accurately distinguish high and low pain-sensitive individuals and may predict the transition from acute to chronic pain. https://t.co/0TvfbSodaV
๐ง There are so many innovations in innervation!
Steven Veld, @naveen101, and I brought an accessible article on neuromodulation techniques to life in NEUROTECH FUTURES!
Nods of Neuromod: Neuromodulation Techniques: https://t.co/YSgSufOLbW
Here, we discuss various neuromodulation technologies, as well as companies producing them.
Thank you, @NeuroDanielle, Victor Pikov, and @JoshuaAlanCain, for sharing your insights through stimulating conversations.
โก๏ธ Neuromodulation goes beyond electrifying!
๐งฒ Some forms use magnets.
โจ Some modes use photonics.
๐ค Some techniques even shake things up!

โ๏ธ๐ก Last week's Open House at @AcaciaClinics in Sunnyvale, CA made for truly stimulating discussions!
๐ง Discussions on brain stimulations that do not involve surgery nor drugs, yet are treatment options for treatment-resistant depression.
Noah DeGaetano, MD and David Carreon gave tours of the facility!
They discussed and demonstrated how their machines worked.
With accelerated transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), treatment-resistant depression can be over with five days of treatment -- in 77% of people!
Danielle DeSouza MSc, PhD discussed the research at Acacia!
Nathan Meng modeled the device used for the focused ultrasound neuromodulation research, demonstrating how the ultrasound beam could be targeted for deep brain structures as a potential treatment for anxiety. The company I work for is the sponsor of the ultrasound research.

Acacia gave me a box of chocolates, which I am holding in this photo!
๐๐ชบ It contained a chocolate Easter bunny with chocolate Easter eggs.
๐ It had me wondering: which came first, the bunny or the eggs?
As my father says, "Box is like a life of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get backwards."
I think either way you consider the loop, you get chocolates.
