@CGasparino This is fascinating (albeit, I suspect, very emotional and disturbing aspect of history for you and your family), Charles. A few commented that this could be a book, and I agree.
👁️ When vision meets body awareness after concussion
In this short clip from our @ConcussionCornr Academy® live Q&A, neuro-optometrist Dr Neera Kapoor @Neuro_EyeDoc explains why proprioceptive feedback — helping the patient feel connected to their body — is key to vision rehabilitation after brain injury.
🧠 Instead of moving a target for the patient, she recommends having them hold and guide it themselves.
When the arm and hand are engaged, the brain instantly knows where the target is in space — activating the visual and somatosensory systems together for better outcomes.
💡 As Dr Kapoor reminds us: sometimes progress begins not with the eyes alone, but with reconnecting the person to their body.

I’m thinking of all Jewish communities across our great commonwealth, the country, and abroad on this Yom Kippur.
Let this profound and holy time bring peace and stability for you, your families, to Israel, and the world.

🧠✨ Concussion recovery goes deeper than symptoms
🆕 imaging study of collegiate athletes shows that even after athletes feel “better” and return to play, the brain may still be healing.
📊 Using advanced MRI (arterial spin labeling + diffusion tensor imaging), researchers found:
⬇️Cerebral blood flow in key brain regions at return-to-play
⚪️White matter microstructure changes (↑ mean diffusivity, ↓ fractional anisotropy)
🗓️ Some changes persisted up to 1 year post-injury—even when athletes were symptom-free
⚠️ Takeaway: Symptom resolution ≠ full physiologic recovery. This reinforces why careful return-to-play decisions matter, and why ongoing monitoring may be critical for long-term brain health.

Cataracts account for over 66% of blindness in India. Two out of every three blind person could see again with a $50 surgery. But for millions, even that amount is out of reach. That’s where SEF, USA steps in. With 29 hospitals, we bring free eye care to those who need it most.
