#HappyMothersDay ~ A female deep-sea anglerfish (Ceratiidae) w/ a dwarf male attached. The male is the small "appendix" attached to larger female’s belly, and is a bit more brown in color. He "lands" on the female+merges both his circulatory+digestive system with hers.

It's uncommon to see gatherings like this in the deep abyssal plain. These invertebrates—an octopus, tanner crab, and a couple of sea cucumbers and anemones were observed off the coast of Half Moon Bay at 1,949 meters (6,395 feet) deep.
