one of my favorite techniques I rarely get to use but still awesome is volume displacement.. @motionpunk1 made several killer tutorials on his patreon way back when with @OTOY inside @MaxonVFX C4D for this - and it's just a completely fun and art directable way to spruce up your renders with fog/cloud/smoke looks in a unique way.
