Alhamdulillaah, in Newham we had 15 Eid in the park events.
We are the leading borough in the country for outdoor Eid salah.
There have been many challenges, but thanks to organisers, @NewhamLondon and local leaders we've overcome and delivered for communities.
@4Hussain
Ahead of tonight's celebrations, Mayor @4Hussain wishes celebrating residents a happy Eid. Please do stay safe when celebrating. And stay tuned this week for more on the festivities.
Eid Mubarak!
@NewhamLondon@4Hussain A great message to start the term @4Hussain. Our coalition of faith & community groups has already reached out with a roadmap of community priorities to help make this vision a reality. Letโs work hand-in-hand to deliver for everyone in Newham.

Earlier this week, our coalition of local faith groups and voluntary orgs wrote a letter to @NewhamLondon new Mayor @4Hussain We want to congratulate him on his election, but more importantly, outline how we can work together to move Newham forward. ๐งต๐ (1/8)
@stephenctimms@Uma_Kumaran@JamesAsser@hackneycouncil Many of these points are quick wins; others require long-term planning. We have requested a meeting with @4Hussain at his earliest convenience to discuss these priorities.
To our stakeholders and neighbours: we are organised, united, and ready to get to work. (8/8)

@stephenctimms@Uma_Kumaran@JamesAsser We proposed an easy, immediate win for community relations: lifting complicated parking restrictions for the upcoming Eid ul-Adha. Neighboring boroughs like @hackneycouncil already offer successful 4-day relaxationsโimplementing this would signal a fresh, inclusive start. (7/8)
Earlier this week, we wrote an urgent letter to our local MPs @Uma_Kumaran@stephenctimms@JamesAsser Following last weekendโs far-right rally, our community is feeling deeply vulnerable, angry and let down by the public authorities who failed in their duty to protect us. ๐งต(1/5)
@MuslimCouncil@MPSNewham Public authorities have a statutory duty under the Public Order & Equality Acts to protect all communities. By standing back, they send a message that Muslim safety is secondary. We are demanding answers from the Home Secretary and @metpoliceuk. (4/5) @NewhamLondon@4Hussain
Congratulations @4Hussain ๐
This was a close result.
Newham needs strong and sensitive leadership to bring our communities together after this intense election campaign.
Labour's Forhad Hussain will formally take up his new role on Tuesday and will be asked to form an Executive Cabinet to lead on major decisions.
The new Mayor takes over from Labourโs Rokhsana Fiaz who served two full terms.
