@USATODAYCo readers deserve news from human journalists. That's why our members and unionized @USATODAYCo workers across the country stood together today, taking a coordinated break to protest the company's use of AI. #newsnotslop.
Today, I am joining colleagues across the @USATodayCo network, formerly Gannett, in a Lunch Out against A.I. slop. We are calling on @USATodayCo to stop forcing generative artificial intelligence on newsrooms and to invest in the people who power our journalism.
AI is inaccurate and sloppy. It cannot do the work of journalists and photographers. However it can plagiarize, insert errors and hallucinate falsehoods. We need human-driven news reporting, not AI garbage from our newsrooms. @appmcjguild@GannettUnion@nyguild@newsguild
