I have had multiple people reach out about what is going on at UCF with the new QB and all of the "drama" tied to it. I figured it is best to just posted a general message instead of answering every DM.

Let me be very clear from the start, this is not a KJ 2.0 situation. It was VERY clear the moment KJ stepped foot on campus that it was not going to work. I see no need to rehash that chapter of UCF football, but know these are absolutely nothing alike at all.

With that said, I would not worry about anything as it pertains to Barnett and the upcoming season this fall. His recovery is being taken extremely slow on purpose to mitigate any/all complications. The recovery is for a procedure that was not serious at all (as it pertains to his availability) and was more an offseason "clean up" job done to better his health moving forward as he gets older. What the procedure was is not my place to say but if you are stressing out about it, I would tell you to take a breath and know it will be fine unless something drastically changes (which is highly unlikely).

AB could realistically practice right now if the staff really wanted him to, but they see no need to rush him. He is still taking time to connect with his teammates, watching film, and doing everything you would want to see a QB doing. Anyone and Everyone I have spoken to about AB have had nothing but the highest praise for him as it pertains to his work ethic, preparation, and understanding of the game.

I truly do understand why UCF fans are beginning to "panick" but I would tell you to spend that energy elsewhere. If you have followed my "reporting" over the years and trust in what I share, do not worry about the QB situation this fall. If somehow things do change and a unexpected issue arises, I will update you all. Until then though, enjoy your spring/summer as football season is nearly hear again. I hope to be able to catch some of you at the May 2nd practice to end the spring portion of the 2026 season.
