Ten weeks from today pubs, bars and restaurants will finally be permitted to reopen their doors. Ten weeks ago today we were still in 2020.
Licensed premises are closing at a rate of 30 A DAY. That’s 2,100 businesses lost & livelihoods destroyed between now and May 17th.
Dear @Rishisunak, please cut Beer Duty at the budget on March 3rd to support pubs and breweries. We have the highest Beer Duty bill in Europe. Our rate is 3x the EU average & 11x Germany or Spain's! https://t.co/or6FrvaBvo#longlivethelocal
So many independent businesses and suppliers at risk, and if they go under furlough means nothing. This is not inevitable. Things could be done which would benefit these businesses without impacting health. @TomKitchin should be heard. Amazing voice for our industry in Scotland.
Unbelievable.
The contact tracing App that was launched in England and Wales 2 weeks ago...guess how many alerts have been sent out associated to a hospitality venue:
1 ... that’s it. Just 1

Today I completed my final 10 laps, and although the mission is complete - I am going to keep on going.
The donations stand at 15.5 MILLION pounds - wow.

I can’t believe the aggressive tweets I’ve had. All down to a misleading @DailyMailUK report who should be ashamed of themselves I’m just trying to keep my business & my staff. Thanks to @Caterertweets for getting the facts right. https://t.co/QkETL2mZu5
So relieved and I cannot stop crying. Our team now have security. Well done @RishiSunak you did what needed to be done. We are all in this together. ❤️
Aviemore Coylumbridge Hotel sent this letter to staff today. Not just fired but chucked out of their accommodation with no notice and no redundancy pay! @BritanniaLtd Britannia Hotels should be ashamed of themselves. Certainly no "room at the inn" here, disgusting.
So we found out a few days ago Covid 19 isnt a named disease on our insurance policy. Its not named because its new! Its like saying my buisness was destroyed by a storm and then the insurance company saying "sorry storm Barry isnt a named storm on your policy"
After a day when our government tells us to avoid going to bars n restaurants - takings in my 13 sites were down by 66% last night. We have no insurance claims to protect us as it’s not an enforced closure. It won’t take long for us to go out of business permanently.
Let me add my voice to the justifiably outraged clamour of those furious at the govt for insisting hospitality and entertainment industries shut down without legally mandating them to do so, meaning they can’t claim insurance. Staggeringly reckless.
