Our middle school STEMLab students learn all about the interesting pollination methods of orchids. If you visit @FairchildGarden don’t miss taking a close look at these crazy flowers!
We had an exciting day with @ywprep … they learned sterile techniques for propagating orchids, toured the Science Village labs and learned about seed banking, and walked through the rainforest, which houses a large number of native orchids.
Cyrtopodium macrobulbon is putting on a show @fairchildgarden. This Brazilian #orchid is often confused for our Florida native, Cyrtopodium punctatum. You can distinguish these two cow-horn orchids because C. macrobulbon has a burgundy red flower stalk and larger pseudobulbs.
We were so happy to host our Educator Appreciation Night @FairchildGarden last week. Thank you for spending the evening with us, we appreciate all of you who participate in our programs! @FairchildChall@Classes_FTBG
This is absolutely #stunning! I didn't think much about #seeds until I volunteered in a lab at UofT Forestry sorting seeds. It was incredible how each species was different!

@mellamosummer Lots of great things in this thread but don’t forget that any museum job will have outreach! So look for outreach/scicomm opportunities, @PhippsNews has a great Botany in Action Fellowship.
