The purpose of pedagogy is to elevate student VOICE while cultivating critical consciousness and confidence. It should NOT be to slow drip endless facts, condition students to compliance, diminish their ways of being & learning, &/or engage in spirit murdering (@BLoveSoulPower).
@mathyawp @zoebchance My dissertation is about communities of math learners, how access to deep mathematical ideas and practices are much more available to communities (than indvs) if we distribute the practice, and how specific characteristics of the community leave traces on the math the create.
Trying to “Influence” myself into a completed math Ed dissertation… thanks to @mathyawp’s “Mathematics for Human Flourishing”and @zoebchance’s “Influence is Your Superpower” for the inspiration.
I am trying out two things from @zoebchance’s book: accountability to twitter, nothing better than “live” tweeting the months long dissertation process. And making the next step forward as EASY as possible… I’ll let you know how the second one is going on Tuesday at my checkin

Feeling grateful for @NPRCodeSwitch latest episode about the San Francisco State College Strike. I have never taken an ethnic studies course but I know many of my beliefs are a direct result of my powerful #BIPOC teachers and the blood spilt to support them. I’m your accomplice.
