@Wayne306563731@PnlChelsea@VillArchie7_2@KieranMaguire@SpursNorthEast 🤝 yes https://t.co/znKFPaHwLX issue is around APT. If nufc want a Saudi sponsor for a fee close to what tottenham get, why not? It may suit the company and club to invest that much.Instead the PL say needs to be 30 million less as you aren’t as big a club.
@Wayne306563731@PnlChelsea@VillArchie7_2@KieranMaguire@SpursNorthEast It’s not about being fair on every club. Impossible. It’s about if your owners have means and are willing to spend, they should not be restricted. If that means Wrexham overtake Brighton that’s what competition is. As long as a cap somewhere
@Wayne306563731@PnlChelsea@VillArchie7_2@KieranMaguire@SpursNorthEast I think it’s fairer definitely because it is up to individual owners wealth. As has always been the case. If villas owners have more money and are willing to spend more than spurs so be it. That’s what a competitive market place is.
@HuntaThePunta2 There’s nothing to suggest PIF would even spend more than anyone else. In fact I actually doubt they would. What would be nice is to have enough power/money to keep best players and not be forced to sell them.
@PnlChelsea@Wayne306563731@VillArchie7_2@KieranMaguire@SpursNorthEast I agree it’s hard to please all teams but having a league where the owners who are willing to spend the most are successful is surely better than current. We still don’t even know how much Villa and NUFC are willing to spend. Prob no more than the 6 anyway
@Wayne306563731@VillArchie7_2@PnlChelsea@KieranMaguire@SpursNorthEast Villa may win it but it will be an outlier. And even if they win it, they would probably have to qualify for champions league 10 years on the spin (over achieve) to get closer. Very unlikely when you can’t match the spending of others or keep best players
@_stonyd@KieranMaguire@ReissKeating@SpursNorthEast UEFA are just as bad. The champions league is a super league in all but name now. I believe Man Utd earns almost double NUFC 2/3 years ago in champions league despite both going out in group stage.
@Wayne306563731@KieranMaguire@SpursNorthEast Good point. Probably because everyone has their own interests to protect. Pretty sure US owners not keen on that because they will have to dip into own pockets. How many US owners in prem now? 🫣🥴
@KieranMaguire@SpursNorthEast Ironically, we have no idea whether PIF even want to invest heavily in NUFC. Iv read local reporters claiming PIF never wanted to be a Man City but see us more as an investment. Not a play thing. Guess we will never know
@SpursNorthEast@KieranMaguire It’s certainly not that. I have no interest in that. I’d like to be able to compete on wages with top 6 club or transfer fees. If they choose to go elsewhere to bigger clubs that’s fine. We will pick up the others. Current rules will never get to that point
@_quiny_@KieranMaguire Sports direct brought innext to nothing for club. Free advertising for Mike Ashley. Like you say “where were the rules then?”Arguably much worse for a football club than getting a Saudi sponsor for a high price similar to the big boys.
