@TradVat2 I have no idea what this actually means, but I read "unc score" as uncle score... and as a very proud "weird uncle" who has unlocked "great uncle" I want that score to go up!
One significant absence (though it might be outside the scope of the committee) is the discussion Christians role of suffering. A problem in much of the debate is that contemporary discourse views Christian suffering as an error to be corrected, rather than fortold and expected
So far I think it shows some good, thoughtful reflection, noting that there can be some good brotherly debate on the prudential way a magistrate may seek to be a nursing father, while also setting some clear boundaries that, in some notable cases, are crossed (pts 4-8)
@RealPDT@PerfInjust Patrick, I think you identify a fair warning against apathy. I want to check in on what I think is a slip of the tongue (or fingers :-)) Your change from"suffering to happen" to "evil to happen". Are those the same categories or are there sufferings that are not evil?
Individual physical can be assisted by civil magistrate and community (including church). Individual spiritual and exogenous spiritual are rightly to be addressed by Christ through the word, sacraments and prayer. 3/3
Just some additional thoughts on suffering: it would seem there are three origins of suffering: the world, the flesh, and the devil. Exogenous physical (with spiritual consequences); individual physical & internal spiritual; and exogenous spiritual)with physical consequences) 1/3
Exogenous physical, in as much as it is injustice, should rightly be sought to remove (particularly by the civil magistrate) while recognizing the temporal action is βor our own good and Christβs gloryβ thus we are to bear patiently 2/3
@DreadNate9@ZrimecSteve@IVMiles You are correct, the reason I wear the hat is because I am bald. But, my arms arn't tooth picks because of all the fat on them!
@PerfInjust I will add (recognizing this can be discussed further in better forum) that presuming suffering is fixable is really just therapeutic psychological ideas infecting theology. SOME suffering is fixable; some is purposeful (means going through it). SOME is just following Christ.
@PeteMorrisonMI@PerfInjust Pete, I think that is a valid distinction and as I said, probably because it was outside the scope of the report, but it was a notable absence on the individual believers' acceptance and posture towards suffering. Point 12 briefly touches on worldwide Christians under tyrants.

Reading through the PCA's report on Christian Nationalism (just starting). It takes a patoral tone, and notes a) future academic information to come and b) requests another year.
I appreciate the pastoral tone. https://t.co/ot7utTI7NK
