@mattlanza Then private equity companies put in people who largely don’t understand the industry; you can see it happening to several companies now. I’m all for better finances, but when this happens, it can blur the lines between true science and misleading claims made for financial gain.
@mattlanza 100% agree with this, attenuation would cause misinterpretation. One problem most people don’t realize; the sheer cost behind many private Wx companies; combined with the fact you have private equity companies taking them
over, squeezing as much out of these companies for ROI.
Increasingly concerned about capital region flooding in the Hudson valley; 5-7+ inches have fallen with HIRES and ECMWF guidance showing another 8 to 12 hours, as the low pressure continues to develop; tilting the axis of heavy rain.

🌧️ The NYS Mesonet station in Schodack has received over 7.4 inches of rain in less than 24 hours. Track rainfall totals across New York with observations updated every 5 minutes! Visit on our website https://t.co/I10kGkSSzB #NYwx#FlashFlood
Keeping an eye on Hudson valley from lower to upper and into the Berkshire Mtns: there’s been a slight shift northwest in hires guidance for axis of heavy rain for overnight and tomorrow morning as cyclogenesis continues!
Pretty gnarly setup over NJ, NY, and parts of New England tomorrow, but a lot of windshield wipering going on in the models as to who gets clocked. Anytime you see 5"+ probabilities in the Northeast of 70% though, it merits paying attention.

Why is the sky looking hazy today?🫣🌫️
Wildfire smoke from Southern Canada has drifted into NYS. NYSM Doppler lidars from Belleville, Chazy, Whiteface Mountain and ETEC roof capture the elevated smoke layer. Plume shown is primarily above ~2 km
Wildfire smoke has spread across New York, creating hazy skies and reduced visibility. Our statewide NYS Mesonet cameras are capturing the event as it unfolds, providing real-time observations from across the state. https://t.co/sK9DniDe8j
As of 5:25pm, 87 all time records are broken @nysmesonet since the station was installed! Most of sites had max feel-like temperatures over 100F except mountain regions & Long Island. Max feel-like T is 110.7F at Wolcott at 2:50pm. Check updates on https://t.co/YJCKbKyY3Q
70 records broken!

Currently, every single @nysmesonet station has a dewpoint of at least 70°F, with a maximum of 80°F at the Voorheesville station (92/80).
This is contributing to widespread 100°F+ heat indices, which cover about half the surface area of NY. #nywx
Its been awhile since Ive posted about Capital Region Wx, notable set up across the area today. Dynamics are high end; could support QLCS event as things evolve!
