Today’s fresh hell: The same private equity termite that has rolled up much of the fire truck manufacturing industry has also rolled up the vast majority of the ambulance manufacturing industry — and it has spent the last several years cashing in: tripling the price of new ambulances, delaying deliveries for years on end, and fueling a preparedness crisis at EMS departments around the country.
Overnight, Israeli forces invaded a town in Lebanon and killed at least 41 Lebanese people, including civilians and children, to try and recover the 40-year-old remains of a dead IDF soldier.
The mission last night is a window into Zionism. The IDF went into Lebanon to try to find the remains of Ron Arad, who died decades ago. They did so even though his widow, Tami Arad did not want to put lives at risk to do so. 41 Lebanese were killed in the mission which failed. It is an example of how Israel prioritizes the remains of a Jew over dozens of Arab lives and how Netanyahu will kill as many people as it takes, and ignore the wishes of the bereaved in order to get his photo-op.
An unarmed Iranian ship was invited, along with the U.S., to be part of an Indian Naval exercise, and its sailors paraded on land before the president.
The U.S. at the last minute pulled out of the exercise and instead attacked the Iranian ship with a torpedo.
Breaking with all norms of civilization and warfare, we then refused to rescue the drowning survivors. The Sri Lanka Navy was left to pull the dead bodies from the water.
I am hard pressed to think of any other nation throughout history that would do something so cowardly and despicable. We are genuinely in a league of our own, and American media — mostly shrugging off the bombing of a girls school and acting as if carpet bombing Tehran is a normal military tactic — is deeply complicit.
Side by side on the BBC website.
When Iranians are the victims, the perpetrator is not named and it’s reduced to a “reported” strike.
But when Israelis are the victims, the headline is unambiguous and it’s clearly attributed to an Iranian “missile attack”.
Not sure what he’s referring to when he says “the Boy Scouts Lost their way in 2012.”
The notable events that year were *checks notes* the Boy Scouts being forced by court order to release documents on 1200+ kids being diddled, and *checks notes* the BSA winning a court case saying they’re allowed to continue banning gay kids.
“Conservative operatives Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, who themselves pleaded guilty to felony telecommunications fraud in 2022, were paid $960,000 in the second quarter to lobby for a pardon for a former nursing-home operator who pleaded guilty to defrauding the government of $38 million. Trump pardoned the man, Joseph Schwartz, last month.”
Criminals are being payed by other criminals to lobby Trump for pardons. https://t.co/oAG6mhcLbL
In a normal world, this should be an immense scandal in Europe.
Le Monde has a long article (https://t.co/HsWFThQ5wF) describing the hellish life of Nicolas Guillou, a French judge at the ICC in The Hague, due to U.S. sanctions punishing him for authorizing arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant for war crimes in Gaza.
Guillou's daily existence has been transformed into a Kafkaesque nightmare. He cannot: open or maintain accounts with Google, Amazon, Apple, or any US company; make hotel reservations (Expedia canceled his booking in France hours after he made it); conduct online commerce, since he can't know if the packaging is American; use any major credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex are all American); access normal banking services, even with non-American banks, as banks worldwide close sanctioned accounts; conduct virtually any financial transaction.
He describes it as being "economically banned across most of the planet," including in his own country, France, and where he works, the Netherlands.
That's the real shocking aspect of this: the Americans are:
- punishing a European citizen
- for doing his job in Europe
- applying laws Europe officially supports
- at an institution based in Europe
- that Europe helped create and fund
and Europe is not only doing essentially nothing to protect him, they're actively enforcing America's sanctions against their own citizen - European banks closing his accounts, European companies refusing him service, European institutions standing by while Washington destroys a European judge's life on European soil.
Again, in a normal world, European leaders and citizens should be absolutely outraged about this. But we've so normalized the hollowing out of European sovereignty that the sight of a European citizen being economically executed on European soil for upholding European law is treated, at best, as an unfortunate technical complication in transatlantic relations.
Amazing story: the Czech government spent six years planning a series of dams.
A family of beavers constructed the dams for free, in 1-2 says, in the same locations that human picked, accomplishing the goals set by the Czech government and saving humans $1.2 million
The Gaza Strip is the size of the Isle of Wight (slightly smaller in fact).
By weight it’s been hit by more munitions than Dresden, Hamburg and London *combined* - across the entire 2nd world war.
No precedent for it, beyond the use of nuclear weapons.
if Greta Thunberg was doing nothing for Gaza except posting, Piers Morgan and the rest of the Western media and political class would call her a performative whiner afraid to take any real action. If she engaged in violent protest, they would call her an evil terrorist. If she does non-violent action like the freedom and sumud flotillas, she's an attention seeking narcissist.
In other words, they just want her and those with large platforms to shut up and let the genocidal starvation happen because they're depraved genocidal Zionist scum propagandists and always have been.
This wasn’t a nuclear blast, it was relentless deliberate nonstop bombing for 2+ years backed and sponsored by the US and the west empire. Biden did most of the heavy lifting and Trump completed the job. Bipartisan evil. This is where your tax money goes. This is why you’re poor.
