@MelissaLantsman Their problem has not been resolved or even addressed in official conversations.
You need to consider the #FormerIRGCConscripts problems such as job losses, separated families, unsafe and fragile families specialy to the more vulnerable members like women and kids.
@MelissaLantsman While many Canadian families are suffering from blindly designating IRGC by US, you are trying to do the same in Canada without considering #FormerIRGConscripts in your discussion. Many of these people have already reached out to their MPs and explained the situation. ..
@MelissaLantsman Have you ever cared about #former IRGC conscripts and their families who were conscripts when you weren't even born?? while they were on mandatory duty, not by choice???
Thanks for pointing to this issue.
As you nailed it, these Canadian families are loosing many working and life opportunities all around the world.
The effects spreads to wifes and kids even those who born and grown in Canada.
These families need their Canadian dignity back.
Earlier today, I talked to a Canadian citizen whose professional (& personal) life as a pilot has been thrown into disarray because the US listing of the IRGC captures conscripts. (Flying over US airspace pretty essential for a Canadian pilot).
We need to get this policy right.

@JackTalebi@kshahrooz You live your own luxury and twittting to lable others as terrorists.
What would happen to all these families that are getting labeled?
What sort of human are you?
It is just about excluding conscripts.
Goes almost without saying that I think the IRGC should be listed as a terror org. I've long advocated it.
But it's important that any such listing exempt those forced to serve against their will. Slogans are important in pushing policy, but so is nuance.

@Davidincl @JasonMBrodsky I understand how you feel about IRGC, but, please don't spread false statements.
Do you have a source for 90% ?
The answer is No.
The conscripts has no tie to the military branch they served in.
This is all about excluding the conscripts.
@kshahrooz Hundreds of families are broken because there is no visa for Iranian men drafted to IRGC. However, government-affiliated people entered the US easily. why is there a double standard? Why is there a restriction for ordinary people who believe in #IRGCterorrists
Just got off the phone with someone who despises the regime, but whose life has been turned upside down by the US listing because he was conscripted well over a decade ago. He also shared some other ppl's heartbreaking stories. It's important that we get this policy right.

➡️ Practical concerns: A listing could also have severe effects on people in compulsory military service or humanitarian projects in Iran. We need to find ways to minimise such potential collateral damage.
