“When Cancer Hits the Oncologist’s Home”. On the anniversary of his passing, I share a piece I published @OncJournal on my experience as a cancer doctor, during my father-in-law’s cancer journey. He’s a great man who beat cancer by fighting the cancer. RIP

Live from #ASCO25: Andrew Kuykendall, MD, (@KuykendallMd) joins us to share the practice changing results from the VERIFY study that he presented at the @ASCO Plenary Session.
Key takeaways:
• Rusfertide significantly reduced the need for therapeutic phlebotomies. 77% of patients maintained hematocrit control without additional blood draws, compared to 33% on placebo.
• Patients reported meaningful improvements in fatigue, one of the most common and life-disrupting symptoms of polycythemia vera.
• The treatment was well tolerated, with mostly mild injection site reactions and rare serious side effects, offering a promising new option for long-term disease management.
